Walking Tracks

Walking Tracks In Mission Beach - Eco Village

Discover beautiful walking trails from rainforest nature walks on the Cutten and Ulysses tracks, to short hikes to Bicton Hill. See if you can spot a cassowary in Lacey’s Creek or uncover the natural beauty of Mission Beach’s Lugger Bay in South Mission Beach! We have walking track maps at reception. A short description of each track is listed below thanks to CCRC!

Cutten Brothers Walking Track

Getting there:
Access from Narragon Beach at the southern end (parking at Perry Harvey Jetty) or from the Ulysses Link Walking Trail at the northern end.

What to see:
The Cutten Brothers Walking Track commemorates some intrepid settlers who made their living from timber in the early 1900s. The track takes you through beautiful remnant coastal rainforest and offers spectacular glimpses of Boat Bay. As you walk through, note the endangered arenga palms, king ferns and the large variety of significant trees. Look out for cassowaries and a wide variety of rainforest birds inhabiting this area. At its northern end the track follows the beach before entering coastal rainforest. At its southern end, it emerges from rainforest at the Clump Point Boat Ramp Rd to meet the Ulysses Link Walking Trail

Ulysses Link Walking Track

Getting there:
The trail begins at the Mission Beach Information and C4 Visitor Information centre but you can walk half way either way from the front of our property.

What to see:
The coastal walking track leads from North Mission Beach along the coast towards Clump Point and the Cutten Brothers Walking Track.

View more information on the Ulysses Link Walking Track Project Plan.

Wongaling-North Mission shared walkway

Getting there:
This walkway links North Mission and Wongaling Beach & you can access it from Cassowary Drive.

What to see:
The shared pedestrian and bike pathway takes you from one village to the other, alongside Cassowary Drive (also known as Tully-Mission Beach Rd).

Kennedy Walking Track

Getting there:
Parking at the South Mission Beach boat ramp at the southern end of South Mission Beach (Kennedy Esplanade).

This popular coastal trail is an enjoyable and picturesque 4km (one way) route that includes beach and forest walking as well as island views. The track cuts through a wide variety of coastal rainforests to get to beaches and rocky headlands. It offers great views of the Family Group of Islands and the chance to see cassowaries, wallabies and other rainforest animals. Peer down into the ocean from lookout points to spot turtles, dugongs and dolphins. The Kennedy Walking Track takes you from South Mission to Kennedy Bay, past the landing place of 1848 explorer Edmund Besley Court Kennedy. If you have the time you can then walk the length of Kennedy Bay along the beach to finish at the Hull River. The communities of Hull and Tully Heads are on the other side. Return is via the same pathway. This trail is suitable for a wide range of walkers, although the second half includes more stairs and a bit of rock-hopping. There is a wide boardwalk to the first beach, known as Lover’s Beach.
